Clementine / Orange Holder Tips
I used oranges, and some were too large to fit. For the easiest fit, choose clementines or small oranges.
How to Make the Holders
Step 1: Print and Cut
Print on cardstock and trim out the design using scissors or an X-Acto knife.
Cutting tip: Start by roughly cutting around the design first, so you have a smaller piece of paper to work with.
Step 2: Tape the Ends Together
Place a piece of tape on one end. Bring the two ends together as closely as possible and secure the loose end to the tape.
You may need to trim the ends slightly to adjust the size of your holder.

Why Oranges in Stockings?
It is said that St. Nicholas, a wealthy and generous bishop, heard about a poor widowed father with three daughters who feared they would never find husbands.
Saddened by the story, St. Nicholas quietly entered the widower’s home and tossed three sacks of gold down the chimney—one for each daughter’s dowry. The gold landed in the girls’ stockings, which were hanging by the fire to dry.
Today, oranges placed in stockings are said to symbolize the gold that was left behind.
